Hello from mature Ashley!
Hello!! Long time no post. I don't really have any good excuses... other than I've been busy lately. With what you may ask? School, Procrastinating, Youtube... the usual. Especially now! I have AP exams coming up this week and next (AP Physics 1 and AP HumGeo.) Right now, I feel like AP's are the worst! AND HEY, my solution to being stressed is writing a blogpost! How productive. Go Ashley. Although I am very sure that future Ashley will be like "PSHAW AP's ARE NOTHING." There are definitely worse things in life.
But anyways, I wanted to make this post to quickly summarize my life as it is now. Just so that one day I can look back on my youth lol. SO.... READY FOR SOME LIFE UPDATES? BUCKLE UP THIS WILL BE LONG (or maybe short... depends on if my fingers get tired.)
Debate Update
In my last post, you heard me crying about Team Canada. WHAT A ROUGH PATCH IN MY LIFE. And how I thought I was a failure for not making the national team in grade 11. I think differently now.
I just had my TC tryout last week and I'm not sure if I will make it. My debate coach thinks I might... but he also thinks I might not. Honestly, I'm really not sure myself! But I've begun to realize that debate does not define me. After all, the most important aspects of what makes someone admirable is NOT whether they are on a national team, I think its about how strong and resilient someone is - especially in the face of hardship. SO I hope I make it on the national team! It will give me social validation! However, if I don't, it's not the end of the world. I am still valuable and important. Debate results do not change that.
University Update
CURRENT DAY ASHLEY (GRADE 11 ASHLEY) is surprisingly reflective and calm about university! Like other peers, I hope to get into a good school (maybe I will apply ivy?) but if I don't get in, then that's ok too. You know why? Because university does not define me! I was reading an amazing blog today (CATH IN COLLEGE... check her out ash if you stopped reading her stuff) but she was talking about how having a dream university is not good for a healthy mentality. I completely agree. Especially because universities do not define a good post secondary experience. That is fully in MY CONTROL!!!!!!
Friendship Update
My friends have really changed. Not drastically, but slowly but surely. I am less close with MOOSHOO now. It makes me sad. But she is still someone I love and appreciate very much. I know she will always have my back, and I plan on always having her back. :) I've gotten a lot less close with YIP YIP YIP recently (mostly because she is dying with AP's and just like does not have time to chill and hang out anymore) but a lot closer with my SLOVAKIA BESTIE (purposefully keeping it vague... I hope future ash remembers all these people.) Anyways, I love her so much and I'm glad we've gotten closer. She is truly there for me. Always. Even when I am crazy (especially now when TC results are going to come out soon.)
