Debit cards
So, I've been thinking a lot lately. I mean, I usually think a lot, but I guess I've had more thoughts recently. But one things for sure, I definitely don't think about things most teens think about. I've been thinking about debit cards. Now, I currently have a debit card, and when I first learned about debit cards, I thought they were a great idea. Not only would I be able to manage my own money, I could have my own cash card, and I would be responsible for every penny I spent. So I asked my mum and she agrees that there are pros and cons of leaving a kid responsible for a debit card, and so, today, I'm here to explain to you about debit cards and why or why not you should leave a child responsible for one (from a teens perspective)
Pros:
Debit cards can teach kids how to manage money (making sure they're not overspending)
The exhilarating feeling of independence (liked riding a roller coaster, BUT BETTER)
Prepares children for the future
Cons:
Easy to lose
A hassle
Debit cards often come with additional costs, it might have been cheaper to just use cash. (This is dependant on what your debit card carriers policies are.)
So what do you guys think?
